Biotechnology can edit genes with a precision that was unthinkable ten years ago. None of this is science fiction. It’s happening quietly, steadily, and everywhere.
The real question isn’t whether these technologies are impressive. The deeper question is whether we truly understand what kind of future they are building when combined together.
One of the most striking changes is how invisible technology has become. We rarely notice algorithms shaping what we read, buy, or believe. Recommendation systems don’t force decisions; they gently guide them. Over time, this guidance starts to feel like choice, even when it isn’t entirely so. Another issue rarely discussed is psychological distance. When decisions are delegated to machines, responsibility becomes blurred. If an autonomous system makes a harmful decision, who is accountable? The programmer? The company? The user? Or no one at all? This ambiguity is new—and dangerous if left unresolved.
